Macro photos!
I recently had a chance to borrow the school's macro lenses, and this kind of lens has opened up a whole new world for me. The "little" world, so to speak. My first chance to try it out was with a 65mm 2.8 Canon macro lens, which was a bit unwieldy at first as it requires me to move the camera to the subject instead of using the camera's zoom to focus the subject into view. I wish I could post the ones I did with the 65mm 2.8, but they have not yet been processed in Lightroom, so I'll go ahead and give you the photos I shot with the 50mm 2.8 Macro - also a VERY capable lens.

That shot is of Naja's right eye, and it's pretty fantastic, shot hand-held with no tripod, which is hard to do with a macro lens since it's so detailed, it compounds and emphasizes any mistakes you make in your focus. And getting my cat to stay still was no small feat, lol. Nevertheless, it's a pretty nice shot. If you look closely, you can see the light of my ceiling fan in naja's pupil, pretty cool!

This one is a bit different, a shot of flowers outside using a diffuser to reduce the intensity of the light on them, with the same 50mm Macro lens on the camera. The neat thing about this lens I can focus with the lens rather than have to move in to shoot the photo. I think this is a pretty good shot, has a lot of nice contrast and detail, all tripod and light meter calibrated.

This one is of the sunflower's center er.... flower part. lol. I don't know what these things are called :(. Anyway, I shot this at 3X life size with the 65mm Macro 2.8 lens, and I was literally mere centimeters away from the flower. That lens is really hard to use, but it produces GREAT results. Pretty snappy photo, I must say!
